Before You Go Home

Since we don't charge any rental fee, we ask that our guests clean up before they leave.

Ideally, we ask that you leave the home as you found it. We don't ask for perfection, but that you leave it as you'd like to find it when you return.

Put away any chairs used, or other items belonging in the shed, and lock the door.

Wash and dry your dishes, and return them to the cupboard. Wipe the sink, counter, and stove-top.

Wipe the shower out if needed, and wipe down the porcelain. If you turned on the radiant-floor heating, please be sure to turn it off.

Sweep the floors, mop or wipe up any spills or mud tracked into the house.

Please wash and dry whatever towels and linens were used, and put them away. Wash the bed sheets and make the bed for the next guests. You can usually do these all in one wash load. (You will need to turn on the water to the washing machine at the valves on the wall behind the washer. When finished washing, turn the water off again.)

If you used the fireplace, be sure the front is closed tight. If you had a fire the morning you left, don't worry if the embers are still hot. Close the front door on the fireplace, and leave it. It will die out.

Close and lock all the windows, and close the blinds.

Turn off the thermostats for the the radiant heating in the upstairs bathroom and downstairs room, if used.

Please pack your trash out with you. There is no local trash service at the house.

Turn off all the lights and ceiling fans.

Lock the lower level door, the main level door, and the storm door.

As you drive away, lock the gate at the top of the driveway, and string the cable across the road at the base of the gravel driveway.

This may sound like a lot, but its really not, and it doesn't take that long. The house is small, and this helps ensure everyone has a good experience at our cottage.

We'd like you to continue to enjoy it, as well.

Have a good drive home, and we hope you can enjoy Selah Cottage again!

In the event of an emergency and you have to leave in a hurry, such as a medical emergency or a wildfire, just lock up and go. Don't worry about cleaning. Let us know when you can.
